Indications:

useful in the treatment of cough associated with chronic bronchitis, emphysema and bronchial asthma.

Contraindications:

contraindicated in patients with hypersensitvity to the ingredients, cardiac patients with associated arrhythmia, ischaemic heart disease and acute hypertensive patients, patients undergoing anaesthesia,patients on MAOI’s therapy, first trimester of pregnancy, acute porphyria, thyrotoxicosis.

Adverse reactions:

generally well tolerated. Reported side effects aretremor, irritability, insomnia, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, bradycardia, palpitation, paradoxical bronchoconstriction.

Interactions:

Concomitant use of with other sympathomimetic agents may lead to deleterious cardiovascular effects.

Warnings:

should be used with caution in patients with closed angle glaucoma, diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer, liver diseases and during lactation.
