Indications:

1.Oropharyngeal and vulvovaginal candidiasis. 2.Pityriasis versicolor. 3.Dermatorycosis such as tinea pedis, tinea cruris and tinea corporis. 4.Some systemic fungal infections e.g. Blastomycosis, (pulmonary and extrapulmonary), aspergillous, systemic candidiasis, etc. 5-Gynecological indications: Vulvovaginal candidiasis. Dermatological indications: Pityriasis versicolor, dermatomycosis, fungal keratitis and oral candidiasis.

Contraindications:

Pregnancy, and hypersensitivity to the drug.

Adverse reactions:

•Rare and may include: Dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea, headache, dizziness, constipation and allergic reactions. •Peripheral neuropathy may occur; in this case treatment should be discontinued.

Interactions:

may interact with:rifamicin,phenytoin,terefenadine,astemizole,cisapride,midazolam,triazolam,anticoagulants,digoxin,cyclosporin A,Dihydropyridine and quinidine.

Warnings:

1.Antiacides, if needed, should be taken 2h after Itraconazole intake. 2.In patients with elevated liver enzymes, liver function should be monitored if treatment with Itraconazole exceeds one month. 3.Dosage adjustment should be considered in patients with renal impairment. 4.4-Breast feeding: traces of Itraconazole are excreted in milk.
