The treatment of various infections caused by susceptible microorganisms
This medicine is contraindicated in presence of history of allergic reactions to any penicillins compounds or clavulanic acid.
This medicine is generally well tolerated. The majority of side effects consist of diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, skin rashes, urticaria and fungal vaginitis. These side effects disappear upon discontinuation of the therapy. Rare cases of hepatitis and cholestatic jundice had been reported with the use of this medicine in adults and elderly patients, more in males. Phlebitis could occurs at injections site.
This medicine Concurrent administration of probenicid with this medicine increases and prolongs blood levels of Amoxycillin. This medicine should not be co-administered with disulfiram and allopurinol. This medicine should be used with care in patients on anti-coagulation therapy. This medicine may reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives.
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with evidence of hepatic dysfunction. During the administration of high doses of this medicine adequate fluid intake and urinary output should be maintained to minimize the possibility of crystalluria. When allergic reaction occurs this medicine should be discontinued and the patient must be treated with usual agents as antihistamines and epinephrine. This medicine should be used during pregnancy under medical supervision. Caution should be exercised when this medicine is administered to nursing mothers.
