Indications:

Treatment of duodenal ulcer. Treatment of gastric ulcer. Treatment of reflux oesophagitis. Treatment of Zollinger - Ellison Syndrome.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.

Adverse reactions:

is well tolerated. Nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal colic, headache, constipation and flatulence have been reported.

Interactions:

can prolong the elimination of diazepam, warfarin and phenytoin drugs that are metabolised by oxidation in the liver, although clinical significance was not determined with the former two drugs.

Warnings:

No dose adjustment in patients with impaired renal or liver function is required. As with all new drugs, omeprazole should not be given during pregnancy and lactation unless its use is considered essential. Malignancy possibility shoud be excluded when gastric ulcer is suspected as treatment may mask symptoms and delay diagnosis.
