Fosfomycin is an antibiotic. It is used to treat urinary tract infection and cystitis (bladder infection) in women caused by susceptible strains of specific microorganisms.
Known hypersensitivity to fosfomycin, Renal insufficiency (CrCl <10 ml / min),RECOMMENDED: . Breastfeeding: fosfomycin eliminated in small quantities in breast milk by prudence and in the absence of detailed study in the newborn, it is inadvisable to administer URIDOZ during lactation.
Gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, diarrhea s were observed, as well as skin rash . These effects disappear by themselves and require no special treatment.
Concomitant administration of metoclopramide slows the absorption of fosfomycin. The food intake can slow absorption of fosfomycin with the consequence of lower urinary concentrations; fosfomycin must be administered on an empty stomach or 2 to 3 hours before meals.
WARNINGS: The processing of a single dose of 3 g fosfomycin is not suitable for: - Urinary tract infections occur in pregnant women or women with diabetes or women immunocompromised; - Urinary tract infections with multiresistant or urological abnormalities PRECAUTIONS: . - In case of persistent or recurrent infection, further investigation is necessary because it is often complicated urinary tract infections. - Renal: urinary concentrations effective are insured for 48 hours at standard dose, with a creatinine clearance above 10 ml / min.
