Health Benefits of Sexual Intimacy

Health Benefits of Sexual Intimacy

Sex has been a subject of obsession throughout human society, from promiscuous indulgences to repressive societies, and it continues to intrigue us through many evolutions.

When enacted in a healthy way, the act of intercourse becomes much more than mere copulation. In this article, you will find out how sex can affect your longevity and health.

Studies have shown that the happiest men and women of any age group are sexually active seniors. This is quite normal because healthy sexual intimacy is nature’s veritable fountain of youth. It can raise the levels of growth hormone, endorphins and DHEA, which are substances that lengthen the life span. It can also lower those that shorten it such as cortisol and adrenaline, which are stress hormones. The quality as well as the quantity of your years can be improved when sexuality is fulfilling.

The ancient Chinese had a tradition that emphasized the productive transformation of energy during sexual activities. The ancients developed a discipline using techniques of sexual practice, with roots in the Taoist tradition. As indicated by Chinese research, greater vigor, an elevated mood, increased circulation, relaxation and balanced hormonal production are some of the tremendous physical and emotional benefits that correct sexual practices yield.

However, incorrect sexual practices can be physically and emotionally harmful, and they don’t offer any benefits. You should learn the sexual techniques of fang-chung from the Taoist tradition in case you want to include sex in your longevity plan. Sex becomes a channel for communication, an action that strengthens and elevates the spirit, and an opportunity for harmonizing energies when it is perceived as a natural gift.

The powerful effect of sexuality on health, longevity and spirituality has been recognized by Chinese medicine for thousands of years. The three principals to healthy sexuality are:

Be aware of your body and needs:

Communicate your needs to your partner. However, if conditions aren’t safe and conductive, if you are feeling low-energy, or if it doesn’t feel natural, then don’t force the act. Again, if the conditions aren’t safe or conductive, or if your energy is low, don’t use artificial means to arouse yourself.

Tune into the seasons:

Observation has shown that animals are less sexually active during the autumn and winter, and more so during the spring and summer. So do as the animals do. Additionally, the person’s state of health may also be a determining factor in the frequency of sex.

Be considerate:

The first step toward reaping the therapeutic benefits of sexuality is satisfaction of both partners. Meaning that it is important for you to gauge your partner’s mood, energy and needs so that you can accommodate them.
